Important Information on Prices & Availability
New York, USA
There’s truly no city in the world quite like New York. From the bustling vitality of Wall Street to the funky galleries of Soho to the bright lights of Broadway and Times Square this is America’s candy store. Its frenetic pace can be dizzying, its people, a vibrant patchwork of nationalities who speak the real language of the city: diversity. There is no place like New York.
Bluenose schooners once sailed the world from Halifax harbour. Fast and nimble, they preyed on enemy ships anywhere on the Seven Seas and brought their booty to the vast warehouses along Privateer´s Wharf. Today you, too, can be a privateer and sail aboard the schooner Bluenose II. Other pastimes include a fascinating tour of the Historic Properties area (Old Halifax), and a visit of pretty-as-a-picture Peggy´s Cove with its pastel houses and fishing trawlers, the quintessential Nova Scotia village.
Saint John, Bay of Fundy, Canada
You’ll see: the tidal range in the Bay of Fundy is incredibly powerful. The difference between high tide and low tide is up to 21 metres. As a consequence, you can reach the famous Hopewell Rocks, also called the Flowerpot Rocks, by a walk on the ocean floor at low tide. For a bit of history, visit the much fought over fortification Fort Howe around which Canada‘s oldest incorporated city Saint John developed.
Pastel yellow, mint green and what else but pink: the picturesque wooden houses in Portland have something in common – they are all painted in pastel colours. Brick red contrasts this in the old port with its pubs, boutiques and small breweries where you should definitely sample a blueberry beer. And of course you shouldn’t miss out on a lobster from Maine’s lobster coast. All filledup, it’s onwards to a postcard scene par excellence, the historical Portland Headlight lighthouse. Or perhaps to the coastal town of Kennebunkport, where you might want to head to Walker’s Point, where the summer retreat of the Bush family is located.
Experience Canada and New England
Experience the beautiful sights of Canada and New England, a place known for its radiant beauty and natural history. From the second you leave the skyscrapers of Manhattan behind you on your Canadian cruise, the scenery transforms into rocky coastlines with historic ports and picturesque lighthouses, filling the shore with colour.
From iconic lighthouses at Peggy’s Cove to Boston’s Historic Freedom Trail, there are lots of things to see and do in Canada and New England, particularly in the autumn where the foliage transforms to a thousand shades of gold, red, orange and yellow in one of Mother Nature’s most dazzling shows. From the gorgeous, towering mountains of Nova Scotia to the tiny fishing villages and even to Cadillac Mountain in the Arcadia National Park, cruises to Canada offer so much beauty and opportunities to explore.
